The Life of Clarence Bernard Champagne

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 11, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Clarence Bernard Champagne, 85, who passed away on May 9, 2012 at his residence. Reverend Keith LaBove, Pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Champagne, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Dewey Champagne of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and the former Antoinette Melancon of St. Martinville, Louisiana. Clarence was the former owner of Guidry Iron Works. Clarence served in World War II in the Army under General Patton''s command. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing as well as traveling. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Marjorie G. Champagne of Lafayette, LA; one daughter Janis Champagne Bader of Lafayette, LA; one son Cyrus B. Champagne and wife Laurie of Lafayette, LA; one sister Joyce Champagne of Breaux Bridge, LA; four grandchildren; Paul Bader, Lauren Faulk, Greg Champagne and Jennifer Landry and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Louis Champagne. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue Friday from 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Paul Bader, Eric Faulk, Brian Huval, Greg Champagne, Justin Landry and Kirk Broadhead. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
