The Life of Willa Broussard

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at a 10:00 AM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Willa Broussard, 93, who died on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at her residence in Lafayette. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, will officiate the services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "J'irai la voir un jour", "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art" and "Psalm 23". She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Amy D. Broussard, Sandra Anderson, Mary Richard and her husband, Rothley and Tena Landry and her husband, Homer, Jr.; two sons, Frank Broussard and his wife, Ellen Trahan and Herman R. Vidrine; twelve grandchildren; two step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and seven step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ovey and Euzeide Broussard Boudreaux; her first husband, Louis Vidrine, Jr.; her second husband, Cyprien Broussard; six sisters, Levie Trahan, Lina Breaux, Ola Benoit, Ozite Vincent, Una Touchet and Zoe Vincent; three brothers, Lloyd Boudreaux, Clyde Boudreaux and infant Elix Boudreaux; and one son-in-law, Andy Anderson. A native of Leroy, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for over 70 years, Mrs. Broussard was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. "Tante ShuShoon" or "Tante Shoon", as many affectionately knew her as, was known for her quilting skills, and made numerous infant quilts for her friends and family members. She loved cooking for her family and was quite a remarkable cook. "Tante ShuShoon" also loved working in her garden and grew some of the most beautiful flowers, which she nurtured and cared for everyday. She cherished spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Frank Broussard, Rocky Richard, Nicholas Landry, Tony Morvant, Tommy Vallot and Eban Broussard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Herman Vidrine, Avery Schroeder, Logan Vallot, Sgt. Matthew Landry, Pvt. Ian Landry and Joel Broussard. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location. The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their kindness, compassion and loving care given to Mrs. Broussard during her time of need.
