The Life of Joseph T. DeCuir
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Joseph T. “Shorty” Decuir, 93, who died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Services will be conducted by Fr. Anderson DeSouza, SVD; Concelebrant, Fr. Robert Seay, OFM.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery, 2111 West Pinhook Road.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ethel Edgar Decuir, and five children, Phyllis J. Decuir, Eric A. Decuir, Sr. and wife, Bobbie Barideaux Decuir, Belinda Decuir Mason and husband, Ronald F. Mason, Jr., Beryl Decuir Broom, and Jason J. Decuir. He will be missed by his six grandchildren, Courtney Decuir Shah and husband, Nihar Shah, Eric Decuir, Jr. and wife, Mikelle Devillier Decuir, Brandon Decuir, Jessica Broom, Jared J. Mason and Kenan R. Mason. He has two surviving sisters, Lucille Decuir Ricard and Mary Adorea Decuir Catalon. He has multiple nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Heletaire and Annie Lutecia (Patin) Decuir; his brother, Norman Decuir and his sister, Corinne Decuir Ricard. He mourned the death of a stillborn son, known as Baby Decuir.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at Syrie Funeral Home from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Following the rosary, the Knights of Peter Claver Council 11 will perform the Final Ritual.
