The Life of Barbara Robinson Cormier

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Barbara Robinson Cormier, 91 years old, who died Saturday March 24, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Hospital. Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park. Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Readers will be Rae Robinson Brodnax and Roy Naumann. Eulogist will be her son-in-law, Jeff Breaux. Mrs. Cormier, better known as Granny, was a native of Franklin, LA and was born on March 14, 1921. She was the daughter of Stanley John Boudreaux and Marie Marguerite Stirling Boudreaux of Franklin. She attended St. John Academy and was taught by the Marianites of Holy Cross Sisters and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Louisiana State University. Granny was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to any and all who were honored to know her. Her great spirit was an inspiration to everyone. Her main activity in life was taking care of friends and family, and she did the job well. She loved to cook, sew, and read, but mostly she loved to share her love. Barbara is survived by a son, Robert Stanley Robinson, M.D. of Spokane, WA; one daughter, Susie Robinson Breaux and her husband Jeff of Lafayette; Rae Robinson Brodnax and husband Bill of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Margaret Robinson Naumann and her husband Mike of Austin, TX., Barbara Robinson Castro of Maurice, Keri Robinson and Brett Schirm of St. Augustine, FL., Thomas “Tommy” Robinson of Pensacola, FL., Kevin Robinson and his wife Stephanie of Baton Rouge, Robert “Robbie” Breaux of Lafayette, Cheryl Breaux Smith and her husband Matt of Lafayette and Daniel “Danny” Breaux of Baton Rouge; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Robert Howard Robinson; her second husband, Lee Joseph Cormier; her son, Thomas Warren Robinson; and her parents. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Robbie Breaux, Danny Breaux, Matt Smith, and Mike Naumann. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Castro, Brett Schirm, Bill Brodnax and Roy Naumann. The family is deeply indebted to the nurses and staff of Lafayette General Hospital for the care provided to her in her final days. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE Lafayette location on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Rickey Picard of Holy Cross Catholic Church and will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Wonders and Worries Foundation, 9101 Burnet Road, Suite 107, Austin, Texas 78758 or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 3636 South I-10 Service Road, Suite 304, Metairie, LA 70001.
