The Life of Aurelia Marie Simon
Funeral Services will be held at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 26, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Aurelia Marie Simon, 89, who passed away on March 24, 2012 at 1:15 am at her residence.
Reverend Msgr. Robie Robichaux, JCL, Pastor of St. Leo the Great Church , will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Simon, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Daniel Miller and the former Vaniola Dugas both of Arnaudville, Louisiana. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Church, a member of Catholic Daughters-1983 C.D.A. Court Alice Boucher Lafayette, LA. #1537 and Ladies Altar Society 1980 as well as a minister of Communion for shut ins. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and collecting dolls.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years Anthony Simon; six daughters; Elsie Simon of Lafayette, LA, Geraldine Brewington of Pembroke, NC, Earline Chelette and husband Dewey of Ruby, LA, Annie Bishop and husband Larry of Friendswood, TX, Nellie Sanderson of Lafayette, LA, Marie Quebodeaux and husband Barry of New Castle, OK; one son, Sidney Simon and wife Brenda of Lafayette, LA; two sisters; Lita Guidry of Marksville, LA and Nola LeBlanc of Arnaudville, LA; three brothers; Wilfred Miller of Opelousas, LA, Wilton Miller of Grand Coteau, LA, Numa Miller of Arnaudville, LA; 30 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Joseph Simon, four sisters; Ella Lalonde, Evelyn Arnaud, Wilma Richard and Mable Trahan, one brother Roman Miller, three grandchildren; Linda Mendoza, Melanie Brewington and Sonny Quebodeaux, two sons-in-law; Ted Brewington and Dale Sanderson and a grandson in-law Dr. Walter Guth M.D.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue Monday at 8:00 am until services. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 5:30pm in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Artie Cole, Trent Bishop, Craig Simon, Ted Brewington, Jr. Calvin Johnson and Waylon Broussard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
