The Life of Marie Cormier

Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 20, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Marie Marino Cormier, 85, who passed away on February 16, 2012 at 10:28 pm at Lafayette General Medical Center. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Cormier, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of Carmino and Rose Marino of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Marie was a devoted wife of 66 years to Nolan Cormier with whom she lived here in Lafayette since 1968. A native of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, she was most proud of being a surgical licensed practical nurse. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and crocheting for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Leonie Cormier Meaux of Atlanta, GA; one son, Michael Paul Cormier and wife Janis of East Longmeadow, MA; three grandchildren, Dr. Justine Foo and husband Dr. Patrick Foo of Asheville, NC, Danielle Cormier of East Longmeadow, MA and James Cormier and wife Tara of Springfield, MA; four great grandchildren, Lily and Everett Foo of Ashville, NC and Jack and Tom Cormier of Springfield, MA; five sisters, Jennie Bouchie, Virginia Thomas, Gloria Marino, Ann Daly, and Linda Battista; two brothers, Charles Marino and Anthony Marino as well as her loving companion, her dog Pepper. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Nolan Cormier, one sister Theresa Basile, and one brother Joseph Marino. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Credeur, Danny Fontenot, Ryan Fontenot, Larry Cormier, Gene Cormier, and Patrick Foo. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
