The Life of Inez Duhon

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, for Inez Baudoin Duhon, age 96, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at her granddaughter's residence in Broussard. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Mario P. Romero, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Reverend Edward J. Duhon, Associate Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church will Con-Celebrate. Giftbearers will be her five granddaughters, Janice Girouard, Linda Alleman, Donna East, Annette Purtle and Pam Hebert. Lector will be Brent East. Tammy Maturin, guitarist, will sing for the services "Ave' Maria", "J'irai la voir un jour", Psalm 23", On Eagles' Wings" and "Be Not Afraid". Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Theriot; three sons, Dudley Duhon and his wife, Dolores, Narris Duhon, Jerris Duhon and his wife, Gail; one sister, Huma Broussard; nine grandchildren, Janice Girouard, Lionel Vice, Linda Alleman, Keith Theriot, Donna East, Annette Purtle, John Duhon, Pam Hebert and Chad Duhon; twenty-four great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oce Duhon; two sisters, Ames Decou and Annie Mae Boudreaux; and a granddaughter, Franny Trahan. Mrs. Duhon, the former Inez Baudoin was a native of Milton and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Theodule and Ella Richard Baudoin. "Momzie", as she was known to many, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend to all. She was the matriarch of the family and known for her humorous personality. As a widow of 44 years, she was admired by all for her independence. She was a devout Catholic, strong in her faith, and was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, praying her rosary and spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Heart of Hospice, especially Julie and Tara, for their loving care. Pallbearers will be John Duhon, Chad Duhon, Lionel Vice, Keith Theriot, Glenn Girouard and Kyle Girouard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dudley Duhon, Narris Duhon and Jerris Duhon. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 4:00 PM by Daniel Broussard and at 7:00 PM by Reverend Mario Romero in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Martin & Castille-SOUTHSIDE-600 E.
