The Life of Cheryl Ann Gates

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette for Cheryl Ann (Reh) Gates, who passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at the age of 70, losing her battle with cancer. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park. Reverend Michael Keith Landry, Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church in Cow Island, Louisiana, will conduct the graveside services. She is survived by her husband, Earl Gates and children, Allison Marie Dulaney and her husband, Paul Dulaney and Georgia Lynn Gates; one son, Rick Gates; three grandchildren, Jackson Henry Gates, Charles Edward Gates and Earl Joseph Berry; one sister, Lila (Bobbie) Roberta Reh and one brother, Edward Marice Reh Jr. and his wife, Hope Reh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Marice Reh, Sr. and the former Roberta Earle Smith, both natives of St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Gates was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 21, 1941, and moved to Houston, Texas with her parents, Edward Marice Reh and Roberta Earle Smith. She met her husband, Earl Gates and married August 27, 1964 in Houston, Texas and they have lived in Lafayette for the past 12 years. Mrs. Gates loved being with her family and her special grandchildren, whom she adored. She enjoyed her hobby of painting, which is displayed all over her home walls and she also enjoyed gardening. Pallbearers will be Paul Dulaney,Rick Gates, Ed Reh and David Goff. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
