The Life of Juana Pilcher

Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2006 at a 10:00 AM service in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette for Juana E. Pilcher, 60, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at her home in Broussard.Reverend Kenneth Burke of First Lutheran Church will officiate the services.Survivors include her beloved husband of 22 years, Paul Pilcher of Broussard; one daughter, Kristen Pilcher of Baton Rouge; two sons Jaime Matthews of San Antonio, TX., and Steven Pilcher of Rochester, NY.; one grandson Seth Matthews of Center, TX.; her mother Eugenia Suarez of Youngsville; and two brothers Jaime Troncoso and his wife, Lala of Seattle, WA., Juan Troncoso and his wife, Isza of Ecuador; numerous nieces and nephews; many dear friends, and her feline companion, "Trevor", whom she loved dearly.She was preceded in death by her father Juan Troncoso of Santiago, Chile.Juana was born and raised in Santiago, Chile where she completed college and worked for nine years in her profession. In 1983 she immigrated to Lafayette, Louisiana with her son, Jaime, and enrolled in UL to study English. The following year she married Paul Pilcher and worked with him in their business. She then gave birth to Kristen and Steven, where they resided in Broussard for twenty years. She led a full life, dedicated to her children and husband, and was very active and supportive in her childrens'' education, and musical activities. In October of 2004 she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She underwent treatment, and in May 2005 was under the care of Hospice of Acadiana until the time of her death. Juana''s vibrant character brought joy to those in her life. She will be dearly missed not only by family and friends, but by all of those whose lives she has touched throughout the years.Her family would like to express their gratitude to nurses Donna Vidrine, Janee Segura, the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, and to many friends and family for their care and support, which made her feel she had many angels watching over her.
