The Life of John Allen Doucet Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Catholic Church for John Allen Doucet, Sr., 74, who passed away peacefully on Saturday July 29, 2006 at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette.Reverend Robie Robichaux, JCL, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Deborah Duhon, organist, accompanied by Jodi Bollich, soloist, will perform for the services, "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles'' Wings", "Be Not Afraid", and "How Great Thou Art".Survivors include three sons, John A. "Butch" Doucet, Jr. and his wife, Terry of Maringoun, Louisiana, Irving F. Doucet of Rosedale, Louisiana, Glen P. Doucet, and his wife, Ann of Katy, Texas; one grandson, Paul Doucet of Katy, Texas; one sister, Linda Viale and her husband, Tony; and two brothers Carol J. Doucet and his wife, Eldine and Jude Thad Doucet all of Lafayette.He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward E. Doucet and Louise Smalley Doucet; his spouse Mary Lou Monceaux Doucet; and one son Gerald Thomas Doucet.A native of Lafayette, Louisiana and resident of Thibodaux and Grosse Tete for most of his life, Mr. Doucet was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Community, and was very active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and many other activities. Mr. Doucet proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army where he served in the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Knights Of Columbus in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Mr. Doucet enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and will be sadly missed by all.A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
