The Life of Vesta Marie Broussard
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Vesta B. Broussard, 84, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Louis Richard, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Louise Lovisa and Elaine Bernard. Lectors will be Suzanne B. Revere and Alicia Carpenter. Eulogist will be Suzanne B. Revere. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria", "Prayer of St. Francis" and "Wind Beneath My Wings" for the services.
Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia B. Thomas and her dog Hershi of Lafayette, Suzanne B. Revere and her husband Michael Revere, Sr. of Lafayette and Saralyn Carpenter and her husband Robert of Lafayette; one stepson, Leroy J. Broussard, Jr. of Orange, TX; five grandchildren, Michael Revere, Jr. and his wife Natalie, Shawn Revere and his fiancée Maria, Brian Carpenter and his wife Alicia, Kristie Carpenter and Lewis Carpenter II and his companion Angelic Landry; and eight great grandchildren, Michael Revere, III, Peyton Revere, Brandon Revere, Jersey Revere, Cooper Revere, Emma Carpenter, Abby Carpenter and Landyn Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy J. Broussard, Sr.; parents, Kossute and Sarah Baudoin Benoit; three brothers, Willis Benoit, Linex Benoit and Valex Benoit; and four sisters, Anna Lee Montet, Ethel Duhon, Mary Ziller Broussard and Dorothy Hebert.
Vesta Broussard was a native of Youngsville and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and bowling. She loved her family and friends and spending time with them, especially her dog "Poupee". Vesta Broussard will be deeply missed and whenever a flower blooms, her family and friends will know she is smiling with them.
Pallbearers will be Michael Revere, Sr., Michael Revere, Jr., Shawn Revere, Robert Carpenter, Brian Carpenter and Kristie Carpenter.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Lewis Carpenter II, Leroy J. Broussard, Jr. and all of Mrs. Broussard's great grandchildren.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Monday, January 17, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed on Monday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
