The Life of Stewart Edwin Rohner Sr.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at a 10:00 AM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Mr. Stewart E. Rohner, Sr., age 85, who died at 6:00 AM Sunday, June 11, 2006 after a lengthy illness.Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.The Reverend Keith J. DeRouen, Rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will conduct the Funeral Services.  Jodi Bollich, organist, will sing for the funeral services, "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace","Be Not Afraid" and "Here I Am, Lord".A native of Amite, Louisiana, Mr. Rohner had been a resident of Lafayette since 1955.  He was the son of the late Clarence Rohner and the former Vietta Brunett of Kentwood, Louisiana.  Stewart was a graduate of Amite High School and a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  He retired from Canal Refining Company in 1985 after a career in the oil industry.  Mr. Rohner was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Coast Guard. He was an active member of the Acadiana Amateur Radio Club, having served as past president.  Mr. Rohner was an avid fisherman and loved to go fishing. Survivors include his son,  Ed Rohner and his daughter-in-law, Susie of Longview, Texas; two grandchildren, Suzanne Rohner and Alaina Rohner , both of Dallas, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Merrill Rohner and his parents, Clarence and Vietta Rohner.A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 7:30 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 8:00 AM until service time.Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Rohner''s name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.  Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette has been chosen to help with the arrangements. 337-234-2311.
