The Life of Richard Phillip Daspit

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2006 at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Martin & Castille Funeral home in Lafayette for Richard P. "Dicky" Daspit, 61, who died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at his residence in Duson.Reverend Richard Arlen Picard, Deacon of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral service.Survivors include two daughters, Denise LeBlanc and Dana Daigle both of Lafayette; one son, Sean D. Daspit and his wife Michelle of Carencro; two sisters, June Dronet and Marcelle Sunberg of Lafayette; three brothers, James "Buddy" Daspit of Lafayette, Robert Daspit of Kaplan and Albert "Benny" Daspit of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Nicholas LeBlanc, Claire LeBlanc both of Lafayette, Jade Daspit and Koti Daspit both of Carencro.He was preceded in death by his parents, James Anthony Daspit and Fern Arceneaux Daspit; and one brother Raymond Daspit.A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Mr. Daspit was a loving father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He served his country proud as a member of the United States Navy. In his spare time Mr. Daspit enjoyed fishing and rebuilding boats, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, not only by family and friends, but by all those whose lives he touched over the years.The family would like to give special thanks to Brenda Morvant for her love and compassion during his time of need.The family would also like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana.The family requests that visitation be observed Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette has been chosen to help with the arrangements. 337-234-2311
