The Life of Francis Melancon

Abbeville - Francis Melancon, 87, of Abbeville, passed away at 10:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2006, in a Lafayette hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, January 30, 2006, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, in Abbeville, with Rev. Gayle Nunez as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM at David Funeral Home, in Abbeville. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service. Born on January 25, 1919, in Port Arthur, Mr. Melancon is the son of Alexis and Eva Comeaux Melancon. A retired carpenter, he proudly served our country in the US Navy during World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making clocks and rosaries, and was a member of the Abbeville American Legion. Survivors include his son, John Melancon and wife Sherry of Lafayette; daughter, Connie Hasemann of Abbeville; half sisters, Peggy Dartez of Kaplan, and Henrietta Couvillion of Abbeville; grandchildren, Martin Hasemann of Wellington, Ohio, Ross Melancon of Erath, Seth Melancon of Lafayette, Sharae Cropper of Lafayette; great grandchildren, Frances Anne Hasemann, Kaine Melancon, and Zane Melancon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Lee Melancon; a son, Randy James Melancon, a grandson, Keston Hasemann; sisters, Uvie Melancon and Eva Talbot. David Funeral Home of Abbeville, is in charge of the arrangements.
