The Life of Davis Lee Menard

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard Louisiana, for Davis L. Menard, 74, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Louis Richard, Pastor of  Sacred Heart Catholic Church , will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Violet L. Menard; one daughter, Stephanie M. Olcsvary and her husband, Douglas; one son, Thomas J. Menard and his wife, Christina; five grandchildren, Tanner Menard, Melanie Hebert and husband T.J., Peter Menard, Jeff Olcsvary and Jennie Olcsvary; three sisters, Lucy Comeaux and her husband, Hugh, Jeanette Dugas and her husband, David, and Jo Ann Spryer and her husband, Huey; and one brother, Donald Menard and his wife, Katherine.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lauve Menard and Dianna Breaux Menard; and two brothers, Bobby Menard and Jay Menard.A native of Broussard, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for most of his life after spending 35 years in Baton Rouge,  Mr. Menard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, where he served in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955. Mr. Menard was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife, his children, and his grandchildren whom he adored. He will be dearly missed not only by family and friends, but by all of those whose lives he has touched throughout the years.Pallbearers will be Douglas Olcsvary, Charlie Dugas ,Dean Dugas, Peter Menard, Jeff Olcsvary, and T.J. Hebert.A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday October 4, 2006 at 5:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed onWednesday October 4, 2006 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and from 8:00 AM until service time on Thursday.The family would like give special thanks to Annette Theriot, Evelyn Ayo, Brenda Hulin, and Tanner Menard for their kindness, care and compassion given to Mr. Menard during his time of need.  Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette has been chosen to help with the arrangements. 337-234-2311
