The Life of Solange Dugas

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 1:00 PM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Solange A. Dugas, 85, who died Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Reverend Paul G. Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Leo the Great and St. Patrick Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will take place at Lafayette Memorial Park. Mrs. Dugas, a native of St. Martin Parish, was the daughter of the late Maurice Albert and the former Emma Bonin both of Iberia Parish. She worked as a seamstress all of her adult life. She was an avid gardener and was a compassionate caregiver to all. Survivors include two daughters, Emma Chiasson and Vergie D. Chiasson; one son, Alvin Dugas, Jr.; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Breaux and Lucy Guidry. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Alvin Dugas, Sr.; two sisters and three brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited Friday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home by Father Bienvenu. Pallbearers will include Layne Chiasson, Lonny Chiasson, Rene'' Dugas, Dean Breaux, Mace Maniscalco and Opey Hargrave. Honorary pallbearers will include Alvin Dugas, III, Jimmy Lee Broussard, Bobby Broussard, Romain Broussard, Jr., Raywood Broussard, Trey Dugas and Trevor Dugas. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the sixth floor of Lafayette General Medical Center, especially Dr''s. Guidry and Carroll. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Acadiana. Donations may be made in the name of Solange Dugas to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70506. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
