The Life of Charles Harry Duhon

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 11, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Charles Harry Duhon, 77, who passed away on March 8, 2010 at 7:15 pm at The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana. Reverend Ira Robinson will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Duhon, a resident of Breaux Bridge, LA, was the son of the late Harry Duhon and the former Melissa Spell. He was the assistant principal at Northside High School in Lafayette. After leaving Northside, he became the principal of the Vocational Education Center in Lafayette. Following this, he worked for six years at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff''s Office under Sheriff Don Breaux. He then worked for Judge Downey for two years in Baton Rouge. Mr. Duhon was a retired Major from the U.S. Air force Reserve. He was a avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Thelma Duhon; one son, Ricky Duhon and one step son, Lonnie Coppinger. He was preceded in death by his father Harry Duhon and his mother Melissa Spell Duhon; four siters, Melba Joyce, Dorothy and Deanna and two brothers, Wartel Duhon and Wilfred "Sour" Duhon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pat Calais, Nick Dupre, Charlie Wilson, Steve Coppinger, Floyd Patin, and Alvin Seaux. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
