The Life of Louis Charles Fournier Sr.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 13, 2009 at an 11:00 AM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Louis Charles Fournier, Sr., age 60, who passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center after a courageous battle with Cancer.Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.Pastor Brad Sons, Assistant Pastor of Family Life Church in Lafayette will conduct the funeral services. Jody Bearb will play the guitar and perform the musical selections for the service. Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Winkie Benoit; one daughter, Jeanne Elizabeth DeHart and her husband, Cody, of Abbeville; one son, Louis Charles Fournier, Jr. and his wife, Christy, of Broussard; two step-daughters, Phillis Rogers and her husband, Farrell of Lafayette, and Melissa Durio also from Lafayette; two granddaughters Hailey Bowers and Macie DeHart, four step-grandchildren, Brittany and her fiancé, Tyler Mire; Amber Rogers, Seth Rogers, and Meagan Prejean; one grandchild on-the-way (that we hope is a boy but only Paw Paw knows for sure); one step-great-granddaughter and the newest pride of his heart Ainsley Mire; his mother, Jeanne Granger Fournier, one sister, Jessie Duhon and her husband Jay, one brother Steve Fournier and his wife Joyce; three nieces and three nephews, and many additions to their families who were blessings to him as well. He was preceded in death by his father Leroy Pierre Fournier, and his grandparents, two brother-in-laws, Donald Benoit and Jimmy Simmons, who he said was waiting for him with a Teal Blue Harley. A resident of Scott, Louisiana, Mr. Fournier was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all that he came into contact with. He had a giving heart, which he shared with so many by blessing them with the gift of his pictures and projects. He loved his job at the University of Louisiana, at Lafayette, where he worked as an Electrician. He was forced to leave all of his friends there and retired after 27 years just 8 months ago. Pallbearers will be, Steve Fournier, Sr., Louis Fournier, Jr., Cody DeHart, Farrell Rogers, Seth Rogers, and Ronald Benoit. Honorary pallbearers will be, Jay Duhon, Jerry Duhon, Kenny Latiolais, Richard Frederick, Jeremy Benoit, and Tyler Mire. A Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:00 PM at Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette. The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service. The family would like to send very special "Thank You''s" to Louis'' niece, Gwen Frederick, who had the wonderful idea of putting together a raffle, he would never have realized how much he was loved and thought of; Dr. Michael Cain, who was his oncologist and who never quit caring for him; to all of the nurses and staff at Lafayette General who did such a great job taking care of him and keeping him out of pain during his last hours; and to Infaze Hair Studio for donating their services.
