The Life of Rex Ducharme
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2005 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church for Rex Ducharme, age 87, who died Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery. The Reverend Keith J. DeRouen, Rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Survivors include his loving wife, Audrey Miller Ducharme; one daughter, Loretta LoLo Richard and her husband, Brad; one son, Sidney Archie Ducharme and his companion, Dixie Simon; two sisters, Annie Bourgouis and her husband, Dr. Ralph and Gertrude LeBlanc and her husband, Dr. Edward J.; two brothers, Lee Ducharme and his wife, Ruth and Robert Ducharme and his wife, Delores; one grandchild, Sidney Archie Ducharme, II, and his fiance, Mariana Olivares and one great grandchild, Ian Elias Ducharme. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith Cecile Doucet Ducharme and Archie Robert Ducharme. A life long resident of Lafayette, Mr. Ducharme was a avid gardener, carpenter and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Ducharme was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy as a Carpenters Mate 1st Class on the Floating Drydock, AFD-19 in Pacific Theater. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of the Funeral Mass. Pallbearers are Dr. Richard Bourgeois, Ryan B. Hornback, Edward J. LeBlanc, III, James D. LeBlanc, David LeBlanc and Robert Rocky Ducharme. A rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7:30 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Ducharmes name to a charity of choice.
