The Life of Yvonne Belle Picard

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Yvonne Belle Picard, 82, who passed away on August 18, 2010 at 4:45 pm at River Oaks Retirement Manor. Deacon James B. Davis of St. Catherine Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Mrs. Picard, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late William Frisbie of Mobile, Alabama and the former Rowena Dayton of Jonesville, Louisiana. She was a member of St. Genevieve Church. Yvonne was better known as “Mrs. Peggy” because she owned Peggy’s Poodle Parlor for over 30 years. She raised Persian cats and toy poodles. She was known for being a wonderful mother, friend, grandmother, a very loving person, always there when she was needed. She was president of the PTA in numerous schools, and member of the Home Demonstrations for many years. She was a grandmother that made every event for her children and grandchildren. She had a wonderful wit about her, and a very devilish grin that you could not help but love. She loved fishing and football games. She was also known for being a wonderful cook. Her home was always open day or night for the kids that she loved to mother on the side. She was also known for sitting and watching the birds at River Oaks Retirement Center where she was residing. Her friends at River Oaks called her the "Bird Lady”. She is survived by two daughters, Rowena M. Picard of Lafayette, and Sarah P. Begnaud and husband Emery of Carencro; two sons, William A. Picard and wife Sandra of Lafayette, and George E. Picard, Jr. and companion Sandra Pellerin of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Mark Mouton and his wife Mireille, Beau Begnaud and his wife Stacia, Kristin Elizabeth Picard, Jacob Picard, and Ethan Pellerin; four great grandchildren, Mark "Alex" Mouton, Hunter Lee Mouton, Alexis Mouton, and Tate Michael Begnaud. She was preceded in death by her husband George Emery Picard, Sr., her parents, and a special friend, Ricky Broussard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette Friday, August 20, 2010 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 6:30 pm in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her sons, William Picard, George Picard, her grandsons, Mark Mouton, Beau Begnaud, Jacob Picard, and great grandson, Mark "Alex" Mouton. Honorary pallbearers will be Emery Begnaud, Hunter Mouton, and Ethan Pellerin. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
