The Life of Earl Lane

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at a 12:00 Noon Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Earl "Nick" Lane, age 60, who went home to be with the Lord at 6:40 AM, Friday, June 2, 2006 at his residence in Lafayette, after an extended illness.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Jacob Aranza, Sr. , Pastor of Our Savior Church in Broussard will conduct the Funeral Services. Mike Williams, organist and Katherine Baudoin, Jacob Aranza, Jr., and Leanne Aranza, soloists will render several musical selections.Survivors include his wife of twenty three years, Anna Baudoin Lane; two daughters, Mamie Elizabeth Lane and Kim Beaman; one son, Jace William Lane and his wife, Monica Lane; four grandchildren, Caitlyn and Nicholas Lane, Kristina and Courtney Wright; two brothers, Paul Lane and John Lane and his wife, Judith. Mr. Lane is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Brian and Louise Baudoin and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mamie Elizabeth Lane and one sister, Lunita O'Brien.Born in Decateur, Texas and a resident of Lafayette for forty years, Mr. Lane was a member of Our Savior's Church in Broussard. He also attended and supported a new work started by his brother-in-law, Aldon Baudoin, named Grace Community Church in Lafayette.He was owner and operator of Louise Real Wood Furniture Store that has been in business for thirty five years. Mr. Lane enjoyed history, reading and took great pride in encouraging, mentoring, motivating and supporting his nieces, nephews and young adults. Nick's life's delight was traveling and adventure-This day, he began a journey more exciting than life itself. Mr. Lane was employed with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Department for thirteen years, under the direction of Sheriff Carlo Listi. He left the Department in 1980 as Chief Deputy. Mr. Lane was also employed with the U. S. Test Environmental Services until returning home in 2002 to take over the family business. He received a Masters Degree in European History and also received a MBA from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts.The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service.Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Lane's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Hospice staff, especially Laurie Young and Vanessa Jeanlouis.Pallbearers will be Harry Broussard, Guy Barnett, Al Malveaux, Bill Warrener, Don Demeran, Ralph Brittingham and Jace Lane. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Carter, Tim Kirkpatrick and Chad Broussard. Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette has been chosen to help with the arrangements.
