The Life of Martha Eisler Matt

''The spirit of the dead shall survive in the memory of the living'' Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 8, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Martha Pastor Eisler Matt, who passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, December 6, 2007. Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Martha lived a full and happy 82 years. She was born in Bordelonville, Louisiana and moved to Lafayette with her parents at age three. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School and attended SLI majoring in dance. She met A.C. ''Ace'' Eisler who she fell in love with and married. They were married nearly 50 years until he passed away. They had five children, Cindy Pickering, her first born, who passed away at age 41, Pam Crist and her husband, Bill from Youngsville, Gaye Coles and her husband, Jimmy from Lafayette, Stephen and his wife, Paula from Carencro. Her youngest son, Karl Eisler, passed away at the age 32. She loved her grandchildren very much, Michael Sperandeo, Dana Pickering, Troy Manson, Ashley Eisler, Danielle Coles, Stephen Paul Eisler, and Kenny Paul Eisler. She adored her great-grandchildren, Landon Manson and Shayson Trahan. She also had three step-grandchildren, Courtney and Sam Crist, and Baileigh Meche. Her beloved dog, Chloe was by her side when she passed away. Also preceded her in death were her parents, Milton A. Pastor and Winnie Maillet Pastor; three sisters, Maria LeBlanc, Chris Pastor and infant, Mae Elaine Pastor; two brothers, Harold Pastor and M.A. Pastor, Jr. Martha loved to dance, cook, and laugh. She was most happy with her family and lover ones near her. She worked for Hadicol, the IRS and owned a button shop. She was a stay at home mom when her children were born. The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Chastant and staff for pulling her through the last nine months. She will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew her. The family request visiting hours be observed on Friday from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm and continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Michael Sperandeo, Bill Crist, Jimmy Coles, Jim Pastor, Milton LeBlanc and Troy Manson. Honorary pallbearers will be Marc LeBlanc, Josh Trahan, Martin Zaumbrecher, and Sam Crist. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette is in charge of funeral arrangements.
