The Life of William C Owens Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 3, 2007, at a 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for William C. Owens, Sr., 86, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2007 in Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital.Entombment will be in the Peace Chapel Mausoleum at Lafayette Memorial Park CemeteryReverend Luther Burney will conduct the funeral services. Mrs. Ramona Carmichael, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Nell Lokey, will sing for the services "In the Garden", "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art".Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Margratte P. Owens; two sons, Dr. Richard Lee Owens of Destrehan, LA and Robert Charles Owens, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA; eight grandchildren and three great grandchild.He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Granville Owens and Ohis Tatum Owens; one son, William C. Owens, Jr.; one grandchild, Jonathan Owens; four brothers, Garland G. Owens, Donald Jimmy Owens, Leroy Owens and Richard David Owens; and three sisters, Nadine O. Gilbert, Betty Zo Owens and Billie Marie Alexander.A native of Oklahoma and a resident of Lafayette for most of his life, Mr. Owens was a District Manager of Baker Sand Control(now Baker Hughes Incorporated). He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother and friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Mr. Owens was a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Richard Owens, Jr., Ross Owens, Reid Owens, Robert Owens, Jr., Caleb Owens and William Owens III.Honorary pallbearer will be his deceased grandson, Jonathan Edward Owens.The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 1:00 PM until time of the services at Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
