The Life of Shelby Joseph Mix

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at an 11:00 AM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Shelby Joseph Mix, 88, who passed away peacefully on Friday, August 10, 2007.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Dr. Ronnie Bijeaux of Cornerstone Fellowship Church, will Officiate the services.Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy B. Mix; three daughters Lois Bartley, Dottie Gill, and Shelly Mix Braddock; five grandchildren, Marc Duhe, Cheryl Damico and her husband, Greg, Sean Bartley, Lisa Williamson and her husband, Jacob, Danielle Lawrence, and Britney Robins; seven great grandchildren, Ana Williamson, Ava Williamson, Cole Williamson, Gabrielle Damico, Devin Lawrence, Aiden Lawrence, and Julia Flowers; and two sons in law, Larry Duhe and Glen Braddock.He was preceded in death by his parents, Antole Bienvenue and Emile Judice; his adopted father Sidney Mix; one daughter Elaine "Lanny" Marie Duhe; three sisters, Emileen Eastine, Eloise Broussard, and Elaine Smith; one brother, Sherwood Bienvenue; and two sons in law, Ralph Gill and Charles Bartley.A native of St. Martinville, Louisiana and resident of Sunset for most of his life, Mr. Mix was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Mr. Mix enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.Pallbearers will be Marc Duhe, Sean Bartley, Lucian Broughton, Jacob Williamson, Greg Damico, and Glen Braddock.The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday, August 17, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and will continue on Saturday, August 18, 2007 from 10:00 AM until time of services.  Martin & Castille - Lafayette, 337-234-2311
