The Life of Donald Bernard Abadie
Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 16, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church for Donald Bernard Abadie, 66, who passed away on August 13, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Abadie, a native of New Orleans and resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Bernard Louis Abadie and the former June Ruiz, both of New Orleans. Don’s career began in banking. Later he became a self- employed abstracter, a career he enjoyed for over 30 years. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time at the camp on False River. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie de la Houssaye Abadie; two daughters, Stephanie Angelle Maxwell and husband, Douglas; Stacy Marie Ledet and husband, Jude; one son, Major Andre’ Bernard Abadie and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Caitlin Marie Ledet, Myles Joseph Ledet, Nicholas Bernard Abadie and Christopher Auguste Abadie; his mother, June Ruiz Abadie; one brother, Ned Abadie and one sister, Joyce Ferrara.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Louis Abadie and one infant brother.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will resume on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Maxwell, Jude Ledet, Ned Abadie, Adam Chenevert, Eric de la Houssaye and Kevin Robinson.
