The Life of I. W. Thompson Jr.

A Christian service will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on July 24, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for I.W. Thompson, Jr., 83, of Lafayette, Louisiana. Mr. Thompson left us on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Mr. Thompson was born in Sikes, Louisiana and has resided in Lafayette for over 57 years. He served his Country in the Merchant Marines during WWII and the United States Army during the Korean War. Survivors include his loving wife, Bettie Dupuis Thompson, three sons, Terrell Thompson of Baton Rouge, Brian and Stacey Thompson of Lafayette, and Owen P. Thompson of Lafayette, Six grandchildren, Averie, Aaron, Robin, Sarah, Kayla and Joshua Thompson. Surviving Sister Gerrie Thompson, and brother Donnie Andrews and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mildred Engster and Barbara Lucas of Little Rock, Arkansas, one brother, James ''Jimmy'' Thompson of Lafayette.

Family request visiting hours on Friday, July 23rd, from 3pm until 9 pm and on Saturday from 9am until time of services. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to St. Jude''s Children Hospital.

Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus and Randy Lewis. Interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Gardens on Pinhook Road.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
