The Life of Rene George Picard

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Rene George Picard, 60, who passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Reverend Frank Ducharme will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Picard, a native of Lafayette, was the son of LeRoy Picard of Calcasieu Parish and the former Evelyn Hulin of Lafayette. Rene was a great cook who loved fishing and hunting. He worked at Frank''s for 30+ years. He also worked for Lafco and Weatherford Lamb. For this last five years, he dedicated his life at the Port of Iberia facility for Franks. He is survived by his wife, Alicia C. Picard of Lafayette; his father, LeRoy Picard and wife, Juanita R. of Lafayette; two sons, Michael W. Picard and wife, Gabriele of Scott and Darrell J. Picard and wife, Patrisse of Scott; four grandchildren, Lora, Nicholas, Markus and Isaac Picard; one brother, Roy Lee Picard of Vatican, LA; and two step brothers, Rocky and Rusty Romero of Sunset. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn H. Picard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Friday from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM and continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service. Pallbearers will be Randy Patin, Randy Reed, Tommy Credeur, Kenneth Joebert, Percy Trahan and Kevin Bonin. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Picard, Darrell Picard, Roy Lee Picard, Charles Picard, Danny Cormier and Chris Hendrix. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Picard''s name to the American Cancer Society, 1604 West Pinhook Road, Lafayette, Louisiana 70508. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of all funeral arrangements
