The Life of Herman Everett Day

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 10:00 am in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery for Herman "Red" Everett Day, 85, who passed away on May 25, 2010 at 6:10 am at Lafayette General Medical Center. Rev. A. Rex Broussard, Jr. , Pastor of St. Basil Church , will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Day, a resident of Lafayette for the past 52 years, was the son of the late James Richard Day of Union Parish, Louisiana and the former Inez Walker of Oak Ridge, Louisiana. Mr. Day served in the United States Army and was a P.O.W. during World War II. He was a longtime businessman in the Lafayette area for many years. He is survived by his wife, Lillian L. Day of Lafayette; three brothers, Richard E. Day, Lawrence E. Day and Lester Day; numerous nieces and nephews; two sister-in-laws, Gussie L. Courville of Lafayette, and Frances L. Rojas of Metairie. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 am until service time. Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Day''s name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite200, Lafayette, La. 70503. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
