The Life of Harold Louis Dugas

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM. on Monday, March 9, 2009 at Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Harold Louis Dugas, 88, who passed away on March 6, 2009 at Magnolia Estates. Deacon Randy Hyde, Pastor of St. Edmond, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Dugas, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Espera Dugas of Scott, LA and the former Dora Hebert of Scott, LA. He was a member of St. Edmond Church. Mr. Dugas was a native and lifelong resident of Acadiana. He was born and raised in Scott, LA by Espera and Dora Dugas. He was involved in the CC''s camp. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 20th, 1942 and served his country in World War II in the South Pacific Islands. He was a member of the 503D P.R.C.T. Heritage Battalion. After the war ended he came back home to Acadiana and found employment with Brown and Root. He also worked for the City of Lafayette. He worked offshore in the oilfield industry, then went into painting commercial and residential for local contractors in the surrounding areas. He retired happily to settle down permanently in Lafayette. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma L. Dugas, of Lafayette; one daughter, Betty Bourque of Duson; two sons, Robley J. Dugas and his wife Maribella of Milton, Steven P. Dugas of Lafayette; two sisters, Jane Bertrand and her husband Francis of Carencro, Janette Simon and her husband Rodney of Houma; 9 grandchildren, Amanda Boyer and her husband Jeremy, Sierra Dugas, Matthew Dugas, Daniel Dugas, Marianna Dugas, Taylor Dugas, Ashley Dugas, Dakota Dugas and Gentry Dugas; 1 great grandchild, Brennan Boyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Christine Dugas; two brothers, Leland Dugas and Charles Dugas. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, March 8, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will reopen at 8:00 AM Monday until service time. A Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:00 PM at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette. Pallbearers will be Steve J. Bourque, Steven P. Dugas, Matthew Dugas, Johnny Dugas, Wayne Dugas, Carl Broussard.
