The Life of Jeanette Marie Donlon

Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 15, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Jeanette Marie Donlon, 67, who passed away on May 12, 2010 at 12:00 pm at her residence. Reverend Dan Edwards, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Donlon, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Howard Benoit of Lafayette, Louisiana and the former Lena Savoy of Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a member of St. Jules Church. She loved dancing and bowling. She was very active in St. Jules Catholic community working with her husband on many projects for the Knights of Columbus. She was a past member of the Legion of Mary at St. Peters Church in Carencro. She was active with Cerebral Palsy annual telethon and helped coordinate the annual Christmas party for the organization. She was a long time member of Toastmasters International and locally a member of Lafayette Toastmasters and Twice as Significant Toastmasters. She visited all the prison Toastmaster clubs across the state. She gave freely of her time becoming a friend of many of the incarcerated serving as an inspiration for them to help turn their lives back in a positive direction. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Robert "Bobby" Donlon; two daughters, Tammy Hebert of Lafayette, and Mary Defresne and husband Dean of Gretna, LA; three grandchildren Megan Defresne, Jamie Donlon and Fiancée Carissa Labbe, and Zachary Hayes; one great grandchild on the way; two brothers, Bobby Benoit and wife Beverly of Lafayette, LA and John Benoit and wife Kathy of Breaux Bridge, LA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two nephews, Mark Benoit, and Troy Lavergne. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday evening in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jamie Donlon, Jeremy Benoit, Daniel Benoit, Jessie Manuel, Jr., Johnny Sonnier, and Dean Defresne. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Donlon, Martin Donlon, Russell Boudreaux, Jami Boudreaux, Harold Foote, and Alvin Broussard. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Donlon''s name to, St. Joseph Hospice, 1003 South Hugh Wallis Rd, Ste F2, Lafayette, LA, 70508.
