The Life of Orel Bridges Jr.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Orel Bridges, Jr., 82, who passed away on March 21, 2011 at his residence.
Reverend Steve Horn, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services.
Mr. Bridges, Jr., a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Orel Bridges, Sr., and the former Zoe Barnhill. Orel moved to Lafayette and was instrumental in establishing the oilfield pipe industry in Lafayette as a young man. His businesses and interests revolved mostly around the oil industry but he was also active in real estate and the stock market for over 60 years. His kind heart, generosity, quick wit and wonderful smile will be missed by so many people.
He is survived by one daughter, Julie Bridges of Lafayette; two sons, Robert Bridges of Scott, LA and John Bridges and wife Eva of Broussard, LA; four grand children, Wendy Bridges, Jennifer Benoit, Alexandra Herbert, and Brooklyn Covell; two great grand children Sophie Sonnier and Rebecca Benoit; his loving companion, Leigh Frederick of Lafayette; one sister, Ruby Martin of Lafayette, LA, and Jennifer Huggins of Lafayette, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Rebecca Ann Bridges, one sister, Zoe Marie Bolton, and one brother in law, Billy Bolton.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 1:00 pm until the time of services.
