The Life of Bettye McCullough

Memorial services for Bettye McCullough, 86, will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Lafayette, Louisiana. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30 pm until time of service in the Owen Room at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension.

Bettye died on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.

Bettye was the wife of the late Hartwell C. McCullough. She was a graduate of San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas and attended S.L.I. She graduated from a business school in Houston. She returned to Lafayette after marriage and worked as a secretary at U.S.L. for 30 years, until retirement. She was an active member of several civic organizations and a lifelong member of the Daughters of America Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughter of Colonial Wars, Colonial Dames, the Huguenot Society, and the Episcopal Church of the Ascension.

Survivors include, one daughter, Martha and husband, Kelly Canulette; one son, Timothy and wife, Sherry McCullough; three grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamin McCullough, and Sarah and husband, Caleb Dawson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to those who cared for Bettye near the end of her life, especially the staff at Rosewood Retirement Community, Cornerstone Village South, Southwest Medical Center, and Hospice of Acadiana. A special appreciation is extended to Amanda and Clara Dennis.
