The Life of Gilbert Ardoin

Funeral services will be held at a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 18, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Gilbert Ardoin, 90, who passed away on October 13, 2010 at 11:43 am at his residence. Reverend Daniel Edwards, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Ardoin, a resident of Jeanerette, LA, was the son of the late Jules Ardoin of Evangeline Parish, Louisiana and the former Louisa Manual of Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. Gilbert was a member of VFW post 8150 in Jeanerette, Woodmen of the World and the American Legion. He was past president of the state of Louisiana retiree's. He was on the board of directors at the Jeanerette Chamber of Commerce and also a board member at the Museum of Jeanerette. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Audrey Ardoin of Jeanerette; four daughters, Stella LaValley and husband Glenn of Lafayette, Gaye Beck and husband Albert of Katy, TX, Jacqulin "Jackie" Landry and husband Tim of Jeanerette, and Carolyn "Sue" Hebert and husband Charles Hebert, Sr. of Jeanerette; four sons, James Ardoin and wife Ana Maria of Allen, TX, Todd Michael Ardoin and wife Cynthia of Lake Martin, LA, Gene R. Fontenot, Sr. and wife Lisa of Jeanerette, and Dewey Savoy and wife Sharon of Jeanerette; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his dog Sassy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ethel Verrette Ardoin, two sisters, and seven brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Monday from 8:00 am until time of services. Pallbearers will be Terry Verrette, Albert Beck, Charles Hebert, II, Charles Hebert, Sr., Gene "Reggie" Fontenot, Terry Ardoin, Dewey Savoy, Hunter Ardoin, James "Jimmy" Ardoin , Tim Landry, Broc Fontenot, and Todd Ardoin.
