The Life of Lawrence Thibodeaux

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, December 22, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Lawrence Thibodeaux, 81, of Lafayette who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by family.

Reverend Donald Pousson, Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Morse, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Jodi Bollich, soloist and organist, will sing for the service; ''How Great Thou Art'', ''Amazing Grace'', ''Eagles Wings'', and ''A Closer Walk With Thee''. Readers will be Glenda and Raime Thibodeaux. Gift bearers will be Jake Darby and Andrew Thibodeaux.

Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Thibodeaux, the son of the late Abel and Lorita Thibodeaux, was born on August 12, 1926 in Cecilia, Louisiana. He graduated from Cecilia High School in 1944. He entered the United States Navy in 1944 during World War II. He served three years. During that term, he served on the USS Merrick and also Admiral Byrd''s expeditions to both Antarctica and the Arctic. Other expeditions included the testing of atomic bombs in the South Pacific and a special crossing of the Equator. He was honorably discharged in 1947. Upon returning, he attended and graduated from Spencer Business College. He was then employed for 54 years at a local industrial electronics supplier. In his spare time, he was the owner/operator of Triple K Farms. He donated his time and efforts to the Lafayette Parish 4-H and was a member of the National Sheep Breeders Association and the Louisiana Sheep Breeders Association.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rita Rae Thibodeaux; his children, Keith W. Thibodeaux (Toni) of Lafayette, Karl ''Tommy'' Thibodeaux (Liz) of Victoria, Texas, and Klarisse T. Darby (Malcolm) of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Ryan and Raime Thibodeaux, their mother, Glenda H. Thibodeaux, Dustin and Andrew Thibodeaux, and Brandon and Jake Darby; his brothers, Jennings ''Coon'' Thibodeaux (Lea) of Church Point, Henry Thibodeaux (Diane) of Poche'' Bridge; his sister, Thelma Melancon of Lafayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Lorita Thibodeaux; and his sister, Charlene Huval.

Pallbearers will be Keith Thibodeaux, Ryan Thibodeaux, Karl ''Tommy'' Thibodeaux, Dustin Thibodeaux, Malcolm Darby, and Brandon Darby.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Hebert, Noille Sellers, Kelly Johnson and Christopher Bruno.

The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers, Faith Broussard, Gail Zeno, and Micah Harriss.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Friday from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and continue Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of services.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette is in charge of funeral arrangements.
