 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, for Louella Domingue Toups, affectionately known as "MiMi", who passed away on, Saturday, January 16, 2010 at HomePlace Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas. Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, will celebrate the Mass and conduct the funeral services.Interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Louella was born in Scott but lived most of her life in Lafayette. She was a devout Catholic, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and her life was characterized by concern for others, daily prayer and a generous spirit. "MiMi" was devoted to her family, an outstanding cook, gifted seamstress and gardener. In addition, she owned and operated her own business for forty years. She expected the best of her family and set an example of personal responsibility, faith and love.Louella is survived by her husband Hayward Leleux of New Iberia; one daughter, Brenda Toups LaBiche, and her husband, Wayne, of New Iberia; and two sons, Billy Toups and his wife, Lisa, of Marietta, GA and Robley "Rob" Louis Toups, Jr. and his wife, Khaki, of Canton, TX. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Caroline McConnell (Matthew) of Lafayette, Jennifer Waguespack-LaBiche, MD (Brad Roth, MD) of New Iberia, Zachary Toups (Jenny) of The Woodlands, TX , Gabe Toups (Tammy)of Villa Rica, GA, B.J. Toups (Meghan) of Marietta, GA, Leah Toups of Canton, TX, Lindsey Sarangoulis (Christopher) of Baltimore, MD, Mark Toups of Dallas, TX, and eleven great grandchildren, Emily, Camille and Lillith McConnell, Caroline Grace, Sarah Catherine and Jennifer Lauren Roth, Victoria, Gabriel, Isaac and William Toups, and William Robley Sarangoulis.Surviving siblings are Ethel Domingue, Laura Sibille, Jessie Camel, Curley Domingue, and Ray Domingue.Mrs. Toups was preceded in death by her first husband, Robley Louis Toups, Sr.; a son, Charles Terrance; her parents, Joseph and Noel Dugas Domingue; three sisters, Gussie Chaisson, Macel Moore and Pearl Romero; and four brothers, Whitley, Milton, Stafford, and R.J. Domingue and son-in-law, Carroll Thomas Waguespack.Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Martin and Castille''s Southside Lafayette location. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 PM and visitation will resume on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until time of service.Pallbearers will be Zachary, Gabe, Mark and B.J. Toups, Wayne LaBiche and Ray Domingue.
