The Life of James Roland Boone

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 14, 2011, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for James Roland Boone, who passed away on April 11, 2011. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. James Roland Boone was a native of Opelousas and a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was a graduate of AIC (Academy of the Immaculate Conception) High School in Opelousas and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army while stationed on Okinawa. He was Executive Vice-President of Acadiana Medical Laboratories for many years. He was Past-President of the Louisiana State Society for Medical Technology and was the 1977 Medical Technologist of the Year. He spent many hours cultivating his flowers and enjoying his beautiful yard. He loved spending time with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He is survived by his daughter Cindy Favaloro of Destrehan, his son Colonel Kenneth Boone and his wife Aileen currently stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, his son Charles Boone and his wife Kathy of Lafayette, his much loved grandchildren T.J., Beth, Sarah, Aaron, Johnathan, Nick, Austin, and Abby, and his sister Mary Lou Bertand and her husband Norris. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Thursday from 8:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Boone's name to Children of the Congo Ministries, C/O Grace Presbyterian Church, 518 Roselawn Blvd., Lafayette, LA, 70503.
