The Life of Eunice Marie Broussard

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2005 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Eunice "Be Be" Broussard, age 92, the former Eunice Picard, who died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at her Lafayette residence. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park. The Rev. Floyd J. Calais will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Melody Thibodaux, organist, will sing for the services, "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Peace Is Flowing Like A River", "On Eagles' Wings" and "How Great Thou Art". Survivors include one daughter, Mary "Tootsie" Bardin, of Lafayette; one son, Raymond J. Broussard and his wife, JoAnne, of Lafayette; ten grandchildren, Sharon McDowell, David Bardin, Bonnie Broussard, Nancy Boudreaux, Michael Bardin, Christine Brown, Angela Aybef, Mark Broussard, Brain Broussard and Stephanie Stienke; eighteen great grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Heloise "Poop" Belsome, of Lafayette and Annie Hattiberg, of Metairie; and one brother, Jimmy Picard, of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Broussard; her parents, Adonis and Leonie Broussard Picard; and four brothers, Albert, Lloyd, George and Paul Picard. A native of Maurice and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life, Be Be was a beloved caregiver to her husband and family for many years. She loved cooking, fishing and playing cards. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Community, the Holy Cross Ladies Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, St. LaSalle Auxiliary and the St. John Solidarity. A rosary will be prayed Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services. The family would like to thank Dr. Maurice Sullivan, Becky Klepaida, Dr. Karen Roden, and her home care giver, Gloria Sampy. Pallbearers are David Bardin, Michael Bardin, Mark Broussard, Brian Broussard, Jerry Broussard and Basem Aybef. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Picard, Benny Andrus, Connie English and Benny Daspit. Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette, 234-2311.
