The Life of John Terry Prejean Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X Catholic Church, in Lafayette, for Terry Prejean, 71, who passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from results of an auto accident in St. Landry Parish. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Lorraine Luquette, Kelly Camel, Katelyn Camel and Jadyn Prejean. Lectors will be Andrea Bernard and Nicole Pittman. The St. Pius X Catholic Church Choir led by Karen Melancon, vocalists, and accompanied by Marcus McCullough, organist, will sing "Do Not Let Your Hearts Be Troubled", "Prayer of St. Francis", "You Are Mine", "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic" for the services.Survivors include his beloved wife of forty-nine years, Vivian Primeaux Prejean of Broussard; three daughters, Vicky Fendlender and her husband Jim of Maurice, Natalie Luquette and her husband Jesse Luquette, Jr. of Lafayette and Tina Camel and her husband Kendall of Lafayette; two sons, Randy Prejean and his wife Laura of Sulphur and John Terry Prejean, Jr. of Lafayette; eleven grandchildren, Andre LeBlanc, Nicole Prejean Pittman, Andrea Prejean Bernard, Luke Prejean, Lorraine Luquette, Jesse Luquette III, Kelly Camel, Kristopher Camel, Katelyn Camel, Zachary Prejean and Jadyn Prejean; three sisters, Jennie Lee Arceneaux of Mire, Katherine Broussard of Duson and Betty Bourque of Mire; and one brother, Robert Prejean of Rayne.He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hazel Lyons Prejean and one sister, Bonnie Melancon.A native of Mire and a longtime resident of Lafayette, Terry, a very hard worker and dedicated to the core, was formerly employed by Kreig Brothers Terrazzo and later retired from Venable Terrazzo as a Terrazzo Mechanic Artist. He was passionate about gardening, fishing and comical photography. Terry had an immense love for his grandchildren and always appreciated a good joke. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Pallbearers will be his two sons, Randy Prejean and John Terry Prejean, Jr., and Jesse Luquette, Jr., Kendall Camel, Jesse Luquette III and Kristopher Camel.Honorary Pallbearers will be Shorty Kreig, Joe Venable, John Trahan, Al Ardoin, Luke Prejean, Zachary Prejean and Andre LeBlanc.A Rosary will be prayed Friday, August 14, 2009 at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
