The Life of Gladys Leblanc

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at a 3:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Gladys LeBlanc, age 88, the former, Gladys Simon, who died Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 1:05 PM at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor. Interment will be in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery. Reverend Bryce Sibley, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Parks will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Jodi Bollich, organist, will sing for the Funeral Services, Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, Jirai la voir un jour, Ave Maria and Hail Mary, Gentle Woman. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Meaux and her husband, Jerry of Lafayette; one son, Albert Sonny LeBlanc, Jr. and his wife, Myra of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Laurie L. LeBlanc and her husband, Keith, Shelley L. Payne and her husband, Brian, Amy L. Broussard and her husband, Kevin, Steven Meaux and his wife, Pam, Michelle M. Breaux and her husband, Brian, William Meaux, Johnny Meaux, Tommy Meaux and his wife, Kristen; eight great grandchildren, William Payne, Claire Payne, Luke LeBlanc, Jamie Meaux, Morgan Meaux, Brennan Breaux, Avery Breaux and Sydney Meaux; two sisters, Jeanette Sally Trahan and Effie Broussard, both of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Alzina Guidry Simon and one brother, Curley Jack Simon, Sr. A native of the Judice Community, Mrs. LeBlanc was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was affectionately known to her family as Nanny and enjoyed cooking, gardening and attending horse races at Evangline Downs. Nanny was a charter member of a weekly ladies coffee group, which began meeting in the 1950s. Mrs. LeBlancs family wishes to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Charlie Dugas and the entire staff at St. Lukes Rehabilitation Hospital. Their outstanding care, concern and compassion helped us get through many difficult times. Also many thanks to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor and Hospice of Acadiana. A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Services. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. LeBlancs name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503. Pallbearers are Michael Trahan, David Trahan, Curley Simon, Jr., Ray Broussard, Joel Simon and Mark Bourque. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Trahan, Brian Payne, Keith LeBlanc, Kevin Broussard, Steven Meaux, William Meaux, Johnny Meaux, Tommy Meaux and Brian Breaux.
