The Life of Meline Jenkins
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at a 2:00 PM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Melina Jenkins, 95, who passed away peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2008 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by her family.Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette.Reverend William Gearheard, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton, will officiate the services.Survivors include one daughter, Melva Cunningham; three sons, Charles Jenkins and his wife, Beverly, Malcolm Jenkins and Byron Jenkins and his wife, Cheryl; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and one brother, Floyd Guidry and his wife, Eve.She was preceded in death by her parents, Mozar Guidry and Lawrence Hernandez Guidry; one daughter, Judy Hosey; her spouse, Hillary Jenkins; one son, Luther Jenkins; one sister, Mildred Domingue; and three brothers, Thomas Guidry, Ned Guidry and Earl Guidry. A native of Aux bois, of Lafayette Parish Louisiana, and resident of Scott for most of her life, Mrs. Jenkins was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Throughout her life, Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed cooking and baking different meals and treats for her family and friends. Her pet peeve during the months before her passing, were that she was unable to cook or bake for her family. Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, whom she adored. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.Pallbearers will be Pat Cunningham, Mark Cunningham, Chris Cunningham, Charles Cunningham, Jeff ORear and Remi Judice.A Rosary will be prayed by Brother Francis Fontenot, BCC, on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday from 8:00 AM until time of services.Donations may be made in Mrs. Jenkins name to Southern Care Hospice, 109 Abigayl''s RoadScott, Louisiana 70583.View the obituary and guestbook online
