The Life of Mary Evelyn Coddington

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Mary E. Coddington on September 9, 2010 at home with family at her bedside. She was 73. Funeral services will be held at Northside Baptist Church in Lafayette with Brother Robert Richardson officiating on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 10:00 am. Burial will be followed at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mary was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a kind and loving woman and spending time with her family and friends brought a great deal of joy to her life. She was a wonderful cook, and loved to work in her garden. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Survivors include her three daughters, Mickie Hebert, Cindy Guilbeau and husband, Ronnie of Broussard and Jeanne Coddington Hebert and husband Michael of Eunice; her beloved cousin, Shirley Benson and family of Bastrop, LA; six grandchildren of whom she loved very deeply, Andy Hebert, Jeffery Hebert and wife Katie, Shane Broussard and daughter-in-law Jennifer, Cody Guilbeau, Dusty Guilbeau and wife, Kassi, and Amber Hebert; five great grandchildren, Luke and Jaxon Broussard, Madison "Madi" Hebert, Abigail Rae Hebert, and Zoe Guilbeau; and her extended family at Northside Baptist including her dear friends, Joyce Davis and Linda and Robert McGee. She now rests in Heaven with her beloved husband, Gene T. Coddington; her grandson, Jake Hebert, her stepson, Jimmy Coddington, her parents, Lemie and Iva Smith and two brothers, Barton and Morris Smith. The family requests that visitation be observed from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Sunday and continue Monday from 8:00 am to time of services. Pallbearers will include Michael Hebert, Andy Hebert, Jeffery Hebert, Shane Broussard, Cody Guilbeau, and Dusty Guilbeau. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Guilbeau and Robert Magee. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Acadiana, with special thanks to Amy Green, her nurse, Miles Perret Center and Dr. Mahoney for their kindness and compassion. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
