The Life of Wilma Lee Piccione

Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Wilma Lee Kirkland Piccione, 83, who passed away on December 18, 2008 at 1:10 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center after suffering a stroke.

Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Piccione, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late William W. Kirkland of Esto, Florida and the former Mae Bell of Graceville, Florida. Wilma was a parishioner of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a proud home maker for 62 years.

She was a founding member of L''Avenir, a member of the Lafayette Parish Bar Auxilliary, Acadiana Symphony Women''s League, Vermilionville, St. John''s Rosary Group, Catholic Daughters and the Eighties Ladies.

She is survived by her four daughters, Nita Piccione and her partner, Debbie Simon, Joanna Piccione Hurley and her husband, Michael, Beth Piccione Baugh and her husband, Jim and Cherrie Piccione LeBlanc and her husband, Brad; one son, Kirk Piccione and his wife, Brenda all of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Ginger Baugh, Jared LeBlanc, Jason LeBlanc, Janine LeBlanc, Joe Piccione, II, Marie Piccione, Francesca Piccione and Natalie Piccione; one sister, Eloise Kirkland Herren; and one brother, RD Kirkland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph J. Piccione; two sisters, Annie B. Smith and Lillie Mae Smith; and three brothers, Roy Kirkland, Jewell Kirkland and Claudis Kirkland.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Saturday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Sunday from 10:00 am until time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette.

Pallbearers will be Jim Baugh, Brad LeBlanc, Jared LeBlanc, Jason LeBlanc, Joe Piccione II, and Terry Kirkland.
