The Life of Wendy Ann Cardon

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette, for Wendy A. Cardon, age 49, the former, Wendy Dugas, who passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at her Lafayette residence surrounded by her family and cherished friends. Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Immediately following the burial, please join the Cardon family for a catered reception at River Oaks Event Center to celebrate Wendy's beautiful life. Reverend Edward Duhon, Associate Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers are Terry Alleman and Amy Cardon. Lector will be David Cardon. Eulogist will be Rex Haymaker. Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the services, "How Great Thou Art", "Be Not Afraid", "Surely The Presence", "Here I Am, Lord" and "I Can Only Imagine". Survivors include her husband and best friend of 33 years, Bruce A. Cardon of Lafayette; a daughter, Brittney Lynn Cardon Stelly and son-in-law, Sean Paul Stelly; one sister, Karen D. Jones and a brother, Allen J. Dugas, Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Allen J. Dugas, Sr.; her mother, Jeanette Blank Miller and one sister, Sheila Marie Dugas. Wendy was born on February 13, 1961 in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette for twenty nine years. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard. Wendy was the Executive Vice President of Cardon Sales Company, LLC., their family business, in Broussard. She enjoyed cooking, grilling, listening to music, and especially loved spending time with family and friends. Her favorite outing was eating boiled crawfish, especially at Big John's in Erath. Wendy will always be remembered for her zest for life and love of people. She never knew a stranger, just a friend she didn't meet yet. Pallbearers will be David J. Cardon, Allen J. Dugas, Jr., Sean P. Stelly, Lee J. Cardon, Larry A. Troxler, Jr. and Rusty Denney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dwain Hertz and Jeff Broussard. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday, February 18, 2011 from 8:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by Yvonne Sonnier. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Cardon's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. James Cole and staff at Louisiana Oncology Associates, Hospice of Acadiana, especially to her nurse Judith Crowder, for their compassion and excellent care. Also a heartfelt appreciation to Loretta "Tiny" Bonvillain, Wendy's neighbor and dearest friend, who stood by Wendy and cared for her during her entire illness.
