The Life of Jack H Wilson Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted for Jack H. Wilson, Jr., age 85, at 1:00 pm Monday, October 31, 2011 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Rev. Ed Downs, Pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette. Aurora Lodge 193 will conduct Masonic services.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and will continue on Monday from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm.
Jack Wilson was born April 25, 1926 in Vinton, Texas to Jack Wilson, Sr. and Olive Jones Wilson, and passed away peacefully Thursday, October 27, 2011 at his residence with his family at his side.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Navy having proudly served his country during WWII. He was an engineer and worked with Transco for over 37 years. He was also a faithful member of the Aurora Lodge 193 and served as a Mason for over 50 years.
He leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 64 years, Marie Llewellyn Guillory Wilson of New Iberia; his son, Jack Wilson, III and wife Kelly of Dover, Florida; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he adored, Kathryn Amelia Gotcher and her children, Aiden Joseph Gotcher and Kylee Angelle Gotcher, Lorelyn Marie Gotcher and her children, Margaret Sharon Ryan and Michael Steven Ryan, II, and "J" Ed Horton, III; and his sister, Juanita Sanderson of Lake Charles and Mary Lee Rock of Berwick.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Kathy Wilson and Sunny Wilson; and his parents, Jack and Olive Wilson, Sr.
Members of the family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Jack's name to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103, of which he supported for many years.
