The Life of Carl E. Conrad

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Broussard for Carl E. Conrad, 95, who passed away Monday, June 18, 2007. Reverend Bert Langley will conduct the funeral services assisted by Reverend Dan Dufrene and Reverend Weldon Moak. Special music provided by the Keller Brothers accompanied by Brother Joe Garbarino. Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Conrad was born on September 11, 1911 in Easton, Louisiana to the late Norman Conrad of Oxford, Mississippi and the former Sophia Ardoin of Easton, Louisiana. The family moved to Vinton, Louisiana when Carl was 12 years old where he finished high school. He graduated from Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana in 1936 and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1952. Carl married Frances Daigle of Gonzales, Louisiana in 1939. She passed away in 1993 after 54 years of marriage. He served churches for 20 years in Pine Prairie, Clearwater, New Orleans and Morgan City. He served in various capacities as Director of Missions of the Louisiana Baptist Convention in Alexandria, Louisiana for 25 years. After his official retirement from the Louisiana Baptist Convention in 1977, he and Frances moved to Broussard where they were active members of the First Baptist Church. Carl served as Associate Pastor, church visitor, teacher of a men’s Sunday school class and as a church greeter. He moved to Baytown, Texas in July 2001 and lived at St. James House until his death on June 18, 2007. He is survived by his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Daigle Conrad; two sisters and four brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm and continue Thursday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at Delhomme Funeral Home in Broussard and from 10:00 am until time of service at First Baptist Church of Broussard. Pallbearers will be Eddie Bordelon, Jim Elliot, Wallace Millsaps, Charles Tilley, D.W. Tilley and David Tilley. Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry Bertsch, Cecil Desoto, Claude Fewell, Randy Hoffpauir and Phil Phillips. Memorial contributions may be sent in the name of Carl E.
