The Life of Patricia Louise Boudreaux

Funeral services will be held at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial for Patricia Holmes Boudreaux, 74, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette on Monday, June 4, 2007. Ms. Boudreaux passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center Friday, June 1, 2007. Reverend Floyd J. Calais will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park on Pinhook Road. Ms. Boudreaux, the daughter of the late Dorothy P. Ordway of New Orleans and Dr. Raynor Holmes of Fort Collins, Colorado, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 24, 1933. She spent her childhood and teen years in New Orleans where she attended McGhee High School and was later went to All Saints Episcopal School in Mississippi. She attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge from 1950 to 1953 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She later attended University of Southwestern Louisiana where she graduated in 1969 with a 4.0 grade point average in Education. She taught in the Lafayette Parish School System from 1969 until 1977 at Judice Elementary and LJ Alleman Elementary. Ms. Boudreaux earned a Masters Degree in Education in 1972 and the title of Educational Specialist in 1975. She was an accomplished writer and used those and other talents to aid many organizations such as the Daughters of the American Revolution where she was an Officer Chaplain, Magna Carta Dames, The PEO Sisterhood, Avec-Souci, Master Gardiners, and The Lafayette Parish Medical Society Alliance. She was active in Mardi Gras Balls as a member of the Lafayette Town House Club and later the Krewe of Victoria. Her late husband, Dr. James L. Boudreaux, served as Prince Albert for the Krewe of Victoria Ball in 1999, and in 1991, her stepdaughter, Yvonne Boudreaux served as Lady Edith at the Town house Ball. She has a love for the arts, as she was a season ticket holder for the Lafayette Symphony with the best seats in the house. Ms. Boudreaux was also a season ticket holder for LSU football and truly loved going to the games and was there for some memorable ones including the 2004 Nokia Sugar Bowl victory over the Oklahoma Sooners for the National Championship and the 2007 Allstate Sugar Bowl as the Tigers beat Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. She will be missed by all of her tailgate friends, but her spirit will always be there. She was generous with her time and with her pocketbook. Ms. Boudreaux always was there for the Holy Cross Catholic Church where she attended Mass regularly. She was an inspiration to her two sons, Frederick Stephen Duncan and Charles Vance Duncan; her late husband, Dr. James L. Boudreaux; her daughter-in-law, Jane B. Duncan; her stepchildren, James Louis Boudreaux, Jr., Katherine Boudreaux Ardoin, Paul Henry Boudreaux, Edwin Joseph Boudreaux, Mark Phillip Boudreaux, Robert Andre’ Boudreaux, Yvonne Boudreaux Winchell, and Richard Gordon Boudreaux; her grandchildren, Adrienne Leigh Duncan, Richard Shannon Duncan, and Forest Stephen Duncan; and her ten step-grandchildren, John Boudreaux, Abigail Boudreaux, Joseph Boudreaux, Allison Boudreaux, Nicholas Boudreaux, Christopher Boudreaux, Kaitlyn Boudreaux, Dean Boudreaux, Anna-Jayne Boudreaux, and Ian Winchell. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue Monday from 8:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place after the Mass. A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be James Ardoin, Max Winchell, Robert Allen Boudreaux, Richard Gordon Boudreaux, Mark Phillip Boudreaux, and James Louis Boudreaux, Jr. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the PEO Sisterhood, Mt.
