The Life of Lewis Clyde Picard

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Lewis Clyde Picard, 94, who passed away on May 10, 2010 at 3:15 pm at his residence. Deacon Cody Miller of St. Joseph Church, will conduct the funeral services. Private Graveside services will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Picard, a resident of Milton, LA, was the son of the late Asa Picard of Milton and the former Cecile Morvant of Milton. Mr. Picard graduated in education from SLI class of 1939. He was a school teacher in both Lafayette and Vermilion parishes. Mr. Picard retired as a Bank Officer with Guarantee Bank after many years of service. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and World War II. He was commander of the American Legion. Mr. Picard was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church community. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Maude Hebert Picard of Milton; one sister, Grace Trahan and husband Clomere of Milton; two brothers, Loybert Picard and wife Annie of Milton, and Huey Picard and wife Jo Ann of Abbeville; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ada Baudoin; and four brothers, Dewey Picard, Samuel Picard, Shelton Picard, and Ashby Picard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday from 12:00 pm until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Picard''s name to Journey Hospice, 101 La Rue France, Suite 406, Lafayette, LA, 70508. The Picard family would like to express a special heartfelt thanks to Mr. Picard''s sitters Angela Menard, Patricia Marceaux, and Donna D''Augevau. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
