The Life of Julie Diaz
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edmond Catholic Church for Julie Fitzgerald Diaz, 62, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at her residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Gilbert J. Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Taylor Hernandez and Frank Arceneaux. Giftbearers will be her grandchildren, Taylor Hernandez, Corey Falcon, Kameron Falcon and Jett Turner.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Falcon and her husband, Alvin and Tracy Diaz and her fiancée Adam Turner; the father of her children, Chet Diaz; her mother-in-law, Dolores Diaz Dugas and her husband, Louis; one sister, Kathy Tobaass of Janesville, WI; two brothers, Michael Fitzgerald and his wife, Karen of Portland, OR and William B. Fitzgerald and his wife, Jeanne of Janesville, WI; and four grandchildren, Taylor Hernandez, Corey Falcon, Kameron Falcon and Jett Turner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Morgan Fitzgerald; and her father-in-law, Luis R. Diaz.
A native of Janesville, Wisconsin and resident of Lafayette for most of her life, Ms. Diaz was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was a dedicated employee of CLM Equipment and worked as an account manager for many years. Ms. Diaz was a devoted member of the St. Edmond Catholic Church Community in Lafayette. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Corey Falcon, Kameron Falcon, Nick Tobaass, Matthew Diaz, Manuel Diaz, Michael Diaz and Michael Fitzgerald.
A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
