Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Linda Sue Hinds, 66, who passed away on April 17, 2010 at 4:15 am in Houston, TX. Private burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Mike Walker, Pastor of East Bayou Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services. Mrs. Hinds, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Leonard Finch and the former Margaret Gilbert both of Florida. She was a member of East Bayou Baptist Church. Linda Sue Hinds, Sue, Momma, Mom, Granny, Sue Baby, many of the names she would answer to over the wonderful years she spent with all of us here on earth. When we were asked to write something about this wonderful lady, seems strange but we were speechless. We were speechless because there was no way we could write enough about her in such a short amount of time and keep it within so many words. In our eyes, for us to give a summary of her life and the type of person she was, we would still need pages and pages, a small book might work. We invite each and every one of you, if you ever want to know more about this wonderful and amazing woman, we would love to visit with you over a cup of coffee and tell you all about her. Even though she left us just a few days ago, her precious personality, contagious smile and courageous will to live will remain forever in our hearts and minds. She touched so many lives throughout her life even up until her very last breath. She was the type of mom, wife, granny, friend, and relative that was so personable and down to earth. She might get dressed up fancy for something but then the next day she would be fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin or hunting at the ranch in Laredo, dressing up like Mrs. Clause or Raggedy Ann for her children at school parties or staying up hours on end to craft or make something for an upcoming football game, cheerleading function or party we just decided to spring upon her. Her strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ always vibrant and carried her through many trials and tribulations in her lifetime and was so evident in the past five months of her life, from her diagnosis of lung cancer in November until April 17th when she went to be with the Lord, she was extremely confident that God had a plan and she trusted him wholeheartedly. Thanks to all of the wonderful family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, doctors and nurses who were with us in the past several months, lifting her up in prayer, caring for her and constantly sending your love and compassion our way. To the best wife, mom and granny, you will be greatly missed and forever loved “too much” like she always told us. She would always say, “I love you too much”, and that she certainly did, it showed each and every day and will carry us through the days, months and years to come until we see her again in greener pastures, a place where there is no pain, no tears and no sadness, the place we call our eternal home, Heaven. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Hinds; two daughters, Shannon Menard and her husband, Damon; Shawnette Broussard and her husband, Barry; one son, Shane Hinds and his wife, Leslie; nine grandchildren, Brittany, Payton and Cooper Broussard, Hannah and Hudson Menard, Sarah, Isabel, John Wyatt and Bode Hinds; one sister, Lavonne Stephens and one brother, George Finch. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father in law, Cyril Hinds and one sister, Janice Rockwell. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 8:00 am until time of services. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
