The Life of Elaine Bernard
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at a 2:00 PM Memorial Mass in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Elaine Begnaud Bernard, age 82, who passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009 in Houston, Texas after a brief illness. Inurnment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Elaine was born July 12, 1927 in Lafayette, Louisiana to J. Alfred & Pearl Falgout Begnaud. She is survived by her 6 children, Charlotte Romero and husband Louis, Cathy Daniels, Robert B. Bernard, Jr. and wife Terry, Connie Gay and husband Paul, Elaine Ledet and husband Tony and Laure Marie Bernard and husband Bruce; 13 grandchildren, Michael Beleau, Stephen Beleau, Amy Marie Richard, Robert “Mickey” Bernard, III, Melissa McPartlin, Brian Daniels, Christina Gay, Clint Leach, Allison Bernard, Michelle Bernard, Christopher Bernard, Jean' Paul Bernard and Josh Bernard; and 9 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert Bernard, Sr., her parents, her sister, Sybil Fitzgerald, and one grandchild, Kelly Michelle Gay.A native and resident of Lafayette, Elaine (affectionately known as "Granny") was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 10:00 AM till the service time at Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.
